Ed Szeto is a Certified Lay Minister in the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod. He currently works as the Special Projects Coordinator for LCMS Life Ministries. This is a group within LCMS World Relief and Human Care that deals specifically with the life issues.
Since 1997, Ed has been involved with local, regional, and national pro-life organizations. He started by being invited to join the Jersey Shore Chapter of Lutherans For Life while a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Point Pleasant, NJ. Ed served in various capacities including, newsletter editor, vice president, and president. He also represented the chapter at various pro-life events around New Jersey.
From 2000-2003, Ed served on the board of trustees of the Open Door Pregnancy Center located in Toms River, NJ. For much of his tenure, he was the treasurer of the organization. At the same time, he helped found a regional organization of Lutherans For Life (LFL) called LFL of the Mid-Atlantic States. Ed worked with other “for life” Lutherans in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington DC to present a witness to the sanctity of human through education based on the Word of God.
In 2003, Ed moved to Iowa and joined the staff of LFL as the Director of Outreach (DO). During the next four years, he travelled all over the US to share the message that life is precious at all ages, in all stages of development, no matter the condition of that person’s life.
As the DO, Ed became an accomplished public speaker having travelled over 190,000 miles and addressing over 27,000 people in audiences of all ages and in a variety of settings. He has spoken in Lutheran and Christian elementary schools, Lutheran high schools, and on college campuses nationwide. Some of the college campuses Ed has visited include: Concordia Theological Seminary, Central Michigan State University, Concordia University River Forest, Concordia University Portland, Dickinson (ND) State College, Iowa State University (Ames), Kansas State University (Manhattan), Kansas University (Lawrence), Kansas University Medical Center (Kansas City), and Valparaiso University.
Ed has a Bachelor of Science in Systems Engineering from Boston University. He is available to speak on various life issues. For more information, see the “Contact Me” page.
